Terms of Membership
- All students must pay for membership & insurance annually in advance
- All lesson fees are payable monthly in advance by standing order
- Refunds on monthly fees will only be provided if the Instructor cancels the class and will reflect the per lesson price
Note that we are a non-profit making organisation and all instructors have full time jobs so we simply aim to cover our costs and ensure the Club’s on-going stability for its members. Unless otherwise stated, lesson prices are per calendar month.

* Junior students may be invited to move up to the Adult Class if the Instructors consider it appropriate based on competency and safety. Only applicable to Taunton Dojo as Evesham Dojo is adults only.
** Ad-hoc lesson prices are targeted at visiting Aikido students from other Clubs and ad-hoc payments.
New Starters
We fully appreciate that people need to try before they commit and we don’t expect people to sign-up for annual memberships from day 1. What we offer is a level of insurance cover for 4 lessons to get you going and your first lesson is free of charge. After the initial lesson and dependant on where in the month we are, you can either pay using the ad-hoc price per lesson or if at the beginning of a calendar month, can opt for a monthly payment in advance. We would recommend you attend for 4 lessons before you make a decision to continue or not, as this will enable an informed decision to be made as you will then have a good feel for what Aikido is all about.
If you decide to continue, membership is payable and backdated to the beginning of the month you actually started and renewable annually, as this ensures you and the Club are insured throughout. If you decide not to continue, then the Club effectively loses its investment but this approach does provide new starters with an opportunity to try before you buy.
Grading Costs
A number of gradings will be held throughout the year for those students who have attended sufficient lessons and achieved the required standard. We follow a coloured belt system for under 18’s and assuming successful, a certificate and next colour belt will be awarded.
Grading costs are included within your annual membership up to 2nd kyu.
Gi and Equipment (wooden weapons)
We can source Gi’s and equipment for you, or you can provide yourselves but must be similar to those used by the Club, as uniformity is important and avoids unnecessary comparisons between youngsters which is an unhealthy situation that we wish to avoid.
