AIKIDO IN TAUNTON & EVESHAM
What is Aikido?
Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs. Aikido is often translated as “the way of unifying with life energy” or as “the way of harmonious spirit”. Ueshiba’s goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury.
Lessons
Students will practise techniques with partners or groups, changing each time to expose themselves to different body types, shapes, ability level and attitudes. Males and females practise together, guided by the Sensei.
Aikikai Foundation
We are directly linked to Japan as members of the Owari Aikikai under the chairmanship of Seizo Takimoto Shihan 8th Dan Aikikai who are registered with the Aikido World Headquarters (The Hombu Dojo) in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
